FROM SEEDLING TO UNIQUE WINE - QUALITY BEGINS WITH THE SEEDLING

Winery Burger

As a winery and vineyard in the Kamptal in Lower Austria, we are dedicated to producing high-quality, regionally typical wines. Our secret lies in our own regional grafted refinements, which form the basis for long-lasting wine creations. Through selective and natural sustainable management of our vineyards, we create ideal conditions for our grapes.

PASSIONATE, REGIONAL, SUSTAINABLE – THE ESSENTIAL FOR US.

What is important to us

It is important to us to create high-quality, regionally typical and long-lasting wines from our own regional grafts. We lay the foundation for this through selective and natural sustainable management of our vineyards.

The grapes are gently pressed by hand, and in modern processing we deliberately use little influence in order to preserve the natural characteristics. But for us it's not just about excellent wines. We want to offer our customers the complete experience, from the creation of the vine to the opening of the bottle. In our farm-gate sales, we not only enable direct purchases, but also guided tours of our vineyards and vine nursery in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of our sustainable approach and love for wine production.

Vine nursery

The Burger vineyard nursery in the picturesque Kamptal is much more than just a source of vines. Here, in the middle of the enchanting vineyards of Lower Austria, a true passion for the world of wine unfolds.

The nursery is distinguished not only by its high-quality, regionally grafted grafts, but also by a deeply rooted focus on sustainable practices. Each vine is cared for with love and expertise to create optimal conditions for the development of first-class grapes. The Burger Rebschule opens its doors not only to wine lovers, but also to those who are curious and want to take a look behind the scenes of wine production. Here knowledge is shared, the history of the vines is told and the love for viticulture is made tangible. Welcome to the Burger Rebschule, where tradition, quality and closeness to nature go hand in hand.

VINE NURSERY

Omegaschnitt
Rebschnitt

The scions are cut from the vine shoots and checked for quality.

At the same time, the rootstock vines are cut to the desired length.

JANUARY-FEBRUARY

“Refining” is connecting the scion with the base using an omega cut.

Particular care and accuracy must be taken. These sensitive vines are paraffinized to protect them from drying out and packed in boxes filled with wood chips.

MARCH APRIL

Now the vines are placed in the 30°C greenhouse for three weeks, where the callus (wound closure) forms in high humidity and the two components grow together.

APRIL MAY

MAY JUNE

After the ice cream men (May 15th) the vines come out of the boxes again, are checked and finally released into nature.

They are released into specially irrigated fields where they grow into stable vines.

During these months the vines are watered if necessary. The highly sensitive canes must be protected from diseases. Care must also be taken to care for the soil and leaves.

JUNE-OCTOBER

After the first morning frost, the grown canes are pulled out of the ground. These come back to the business premises.

NOVEMBER

Now the vines go to quality control, where they are carefully checked:

– If the base with the scion has completely grown together,
– If the vine has formed a continuous crown of roots,
– Is a shoot present.

SALES
